Evaluating and retaining effective teachers is a hot topic since Mick Zais, Supt. of Education, is proposing a major change in ways of determining teacher pay. He would like to see it based on student academic performance, with a higher pay level for the most "effective" teachers and more dismissal of "ineffective" teachers. The topic is widely discussed nationally, with a major controversy over how best to determine which teachers are most effective. The state-wide committee prepared 10 questions for each local League to discuss and see if they can reach consensus.

League members: please join us on January 17 as we discuss this important topic.
